Tourism Technology Festival Hackathon at "Alles für den Gast" 2022

This year we will have 4 different streams that shall explore Austrian tourism in a new and unique way. We will use the “Alles für den Gast” fair one floor underneath us as a playground for a variety of new ideas. All streams will happen in a dedicated area – Let’s create a memorable experience.

Customer centric ApplicationsRapid Prototyping and Coding

The hackathon format will give you a challenge to work on in teams of 3-5 people. You will have 24 hours to come up with a prototype and present it to the jury. The best teams will be awarded with prizes.

Participate: Team of 3-5 people
Challenge: Concrete Challenge Questions in the Tourism Industry
Expected Outcome: Prototype that can be presented
Judging Criteria: Technical Evaluation & Presentation in front of Jury

Data VisualisationDisplaying Data in a Meaningful Way

The data visualisation stream will give you different data, that you have to understand and visualise in a new way. The goal is to better visualize a tourism topic for the tourism board, for guests or partners active in the tourism sector (Hotels, Restaurants, ...) You participate in teams of 3-5 people. You will have 24 hours to come up with a visualisation and present it to the jury. The best teams will be awarded with prizes.

Challenge: Showcase your visualisation in front of a jury
Expected Outcome: Infographic, Dynamic Visualisation, Visual storytelling
Judging Criteria: Presentation and relevance in front of Jury

VRCreate a Virtual Reality Scenery

The VR Stream will give you hardware (VR glasses + 360degree Cameras) and experts to experiment with VR, the goal is to create a scenery that is interesting, fun and/or informative for the tourism industry. You participate in teams of 2-5 people. This challenge is for people who are interested in VR and want to experiment with it. You will have 24 hours to come up with a scene and present it to the jury at our VR Station. Participants and partners will have the chance to try out the VR experiences as well.

Participate: Team of 2-5 people
Challenge: create a memorable VR experience
Expected Outcome: A scene that can be experienced in VR at the station on sight.
Judging Criteria: the experience and the story you tell with it

AI FotoShowcase a Picture made with AI

The AI foto stream will be very similar to a fotography competition, but without the need of a camera. You will be provided with a specific tourism challenge to create an image with AI. You can use tools like Midjourney or Dall-E or use your own stable diffusion model. This challenge is for individuals and people can participate in this challenge even if they are already part of a team. You will have 24 hours to come up with a single image that you can enter into the contest. A jury of experts will evaluate the images and the best ones will be awarded with prizes.

Participate: Single participation (don't let your team down when you participate in another challenge as well though)
Challenge: An image based on a challenge given your prior.
Expected Outcome: A single image that enters the competition.
Judging Criteria: how well the image fits the challenge and how special it is.
